Inside the ALS Research Radar
ALS Research Radar is built for patients and families who want a clearer weekly view of meaningful ALS science—without wading through fundraising campaigns, celebrity coverage, or SOD1-only noise.
The site is powered by an automated discovery pipeline that searches recent research, screens findings with Gemini, and publishes a structured weekly snapshot you can browse by category.
Neural discovery of recent ALS research
Each week the pipeline uses Exa neural search across focused tracks such as non-SOD1 biology, clinical reversals, mind-body science, and pharmaceutical / trial updates published in the last seven days.
Guardrails before anything is published
Gemini reviews each candidate and rejects SOD1-only therapy noise, fundraising / awareness campaigns, celebrity stories, and claims without scientific or clinical grounding. Valid items are summarized in plain language for patients.
Category views for faster browsing
Surviving studies are grouped into research categories and written to Cloud
Storage as radar_data.json.
This dashboard reads that file live—no redeploy needed for weekly refreshes.
Research categories
Categories are assigned by the pipeline. Typical labels include:
Clinical Trial
Human studies evaluating safety or effectiveness of ALS interventions.
Pharmaceutical
Drug and therapy development updates relevant to ALS care and research.
ALS Reversal / Clinical Reversals
Documented recovery patterns and related clinical observations.
Mind-Body Science
Mind-body, psychoneuroimmunology, and complementary approaches studied in ALS.
General Research
Foundational biology, genetics, mechanisms, and discovery science.
Non-SOD1 Research
Work focused on non-SOD1 ALS pathways and treatment directions.
This Radar is informational. It is not medical advice and should not replace conversations with your care team.
Why this matters for patients
Research news moves quickly and is easy to miss. ALS Research Radar compresses a noisy week of publications into a patient-readable overview with source links, so you can follow what is emerging without needing to monitor every journal feed yourself.
